Dublin footballer Jonny Cooper is recovering in hospital after he was the victim of a knife attack in the early hours of this morning.
According to reports, it is believed that the 24-year-old was assaulted on Dorset Street in the north of the capital at approximately 5.00am on Saturday.
Following the incident, he was brought to the Mater Hospital where his injuries were described as not life-threatening. The defender is expected to be released later this afternoon.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.
