A Clare village is in mourning this week after a 70-year-old man collapsed and died during his daughter’s wedding.
Karen O’Brien tied the knot with Mike O’Halloran at St Mary’s Church in Quin on Saturday but tragedy struck later that evening when her father Tommy collapsed while enjoying a dance with his daughter at the wedding reception.
According to the Irish Examiner, Mr O’Brien was rushed to hospital but never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead at University Hospital Limerick.
The newly-married couple had been due to fly to Mexico on their honeymoon the following day but will instead return to St Mary’s Church tomorrow for Mr O’Brien’s funeral mass.
