Cineworld in Dublin closed following the death of a man

Gardaí are investigating the death of a man in a Dublin City Centre cinema.

The body was discovered in Cineworld, on Parnell Street, this morning.

Following the incident, Cineworld is closed for the remainder of today to facilitate a full Garda investigation. It will reopen on Friday, February 16.

The cinema confirmed the news on Facebook, saying:

“We’re sorry to inform you that the cinema will be closed today while the Gardai investigate an incident at the cinema that took place yesterday evening. We apologise for any inconvenience and we plan to reopen the cinema as normal on Friday.
Any customers who have already purchased tickets can claim a full refund through Customer Services on 0333 003 3444.”

Meanwhile, Gardaí have said that the incident is believed to be a personal tragedy. They released the following statement:

“We are investigating the sudden death of a male at the cinema overnight. The death is being treated as a personal tragedy.”
