The actress has passed away at the age of 73.
Charmian Carr has passed away after suffering complications from dementia.
According to TMZ, the actress had a rare form of the disease and died on Saturday 17th September.
Fans will remember the American actress and singer as the eldest sister of the Von Trapp family in the film version of musical The Sound of Music.
After a short career in show business, the actress went into interior design. She also wrote two books, Forever Liesl, which told of her experience filming Sound of Music, and Letters to Liesl, a book about all the fan mail she had ever received.
People took to Twitter to express their grief for the late actress, who inspired many to sing and perform.

The actress is survived by the Carr family but we will always remember her as Liesl in the iconic film, singing Sixteen Going on Seventeen to Rolf.
