John Joe Nevin returned to the ring yesterday vowing not to let the brutal injuries he suffered at the beginning of April damage his career.

The 24-year-old Olympian broke both his legs when he was allegedly attacked with a golf club while trying to break up a fight in Mullingar seven weeks ago.

Arriving for training at Cavan Boxing Club yesterday, John Joe told the Irish Mirror that he was fully concentrated on his training and said “”It will be an Olympic challenge but I won’t let this incident finish my career”.

John Joe Nevin made his professional debut last March when he secured a St. Patrick’s Day win against Alberto Candelaria in Boston.

The Olympic silver medal winner wants to enter the professional fighting circuit again by October and is determined to reach his goal.
