The body of a three-week-old baby girl that was abducted from her home on Saturday evening has been found.

Eliza Delacruz was kidnapped from a home in the Long Beach area of California following an attack on her parents and uncle.

Southern California police were called out to the scene on Saturday where a shooting had taken place.

It was quickly established that the newborn was missing and the police were on the hunt for a male. It has not been confirmed whether or not the man is a relation to the injured party.

The body of the baby was discovered over 100 miles away in a San Diego bin on Sunday.

Detectives are working to establish the motive for the attack. Police spokeswoman Marlene Arrona has said that authorities do not believe that the incident was a random act.

According to Associated Press, two of the victims remain in hospital in a critical, but stable, condition. The other was treated and released.
