Gardaí have advised young girls in Cork to remain vigilant following an apparent abduction attempt of an 18-year-old student.

Lisa Maria was walking home Cork Institute of Technology when she noticed two men acting suspiciously nearby.

As she was walking towards a housing estate, one man walked alongside her, sparking up conversation.

Then, as they walked into the estate, the second man appeared, reportedly in a waiting stance.

Lisa felt intimidated by the two men and said she was expecting a friend to collect her. She walked towards a car in the estate and then ran away.

A similar incident was later reported in the Silversprings area of Cork.

The incident happened around 12.30pm last Saturday afternoon.
