Adults are Dumber on Thursdays, Apparently…

Some new research has revealed that when it comes to the days of the week, we're all a bit...slower...on a Thursday...

For most of us, Monday is the worst day of the week. Sure you know yourself – nine times out of ten, your brain needs a day or two to get back into a routine after the weekend.

However, we were very surprised today to learn that while we’re all a bit groggy on a Monday morning, we’re apparently dumber on Thursdays. Yes, seriously.

The Irish Sun reports that according to new research, we should avoid making any big, important decisions on a Thursday because, frankly, our mental capabilities won’t be at their best.

Professor Gennady Onishchenko, a Russian academic, says that a host of bio-rhythms in our brain actually make us under-perform at work (and our lives, in general) as the end of the week gets closer.

Professor Onishchenko is the chief sanitary doctor for the Kremlin and he believes that his research sheds some light on the brains of students who are stressed out of their minds with exams.

“The curriculum should be altered to ensure hard subjects are studied at other times,” said Professor Onishchenko.

“Children have their own bio-rhythms and Thursday is the hardest day of the week. As a result, it is not recommended to teach difficult subjects like maths and physics on Thursdays because those require a heavier load on the brain,” he added.

And the good news is that the Professor also stated that bosses should not put extra pressure on staff on Thursdays.

“Thursday are difficult days not only for children but for adults as well,” he stated.

So if you find yourself making stupid mistakes at work tomorrow, rest assured that you’re not a bad employee – it’s just the bio-rhythms in your brain. Good to know.
