One person was left critically injured, and eight more seriously injured, after a stunt went wrong during a recent show in the US.
A group of eight female acrobats at the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus in Rhode Island fell 35 feet when a piece of apparatus broke during their performance on Sunday.
According to The Independent, they were performing a stunt during which they hang from a metal frame by their hair when it came away from the ceiling. Another member of the group, a dancer, was underneath the frame when it fell.
A statement on the show’s website read: “All of us at Feld Entertainment appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers for our performers, and we are sharing all of those with them as they recover”.
The horrifying moment was caught on camera by a number of audience members. (Be warned, the video below shows the incident unfolding and may upset some viewers.)
