A 17-year-old boy has died after a house fire in his home in Co Cork.
Emergency services were called to the house in the Elmvale area at approximately 3pm this afternoon.
Reports state that it is believed that he fell asleep after returning home, leaving a chip pan on. He was alone in the house when the incident occurred and attempts at resuscitation were not successful.
The young man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was moved to Cork University Hospital.
A post mortem will be carried out tomorrow.
