A 16-year-old girl was found dead on the tracks of a Kent train station yesterday.

Taiyah Pebbles was found early yesterday morning on the tracks of Herne Bay station. She had been previously seen near the area with friends the night before.

Police investigating her death are treating the incident as unexplained, but they believe her injuries were caused by electrocution.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said:

“Formal identification had yet to be completed; however the girl’s family have been informed. A post mortem examination is due to take place on Friday.”

British police believe that Taiyah sustained her injuries sometime between 11pm on Tuesday night and 7am on Wednesday morning.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Langley said that his thoughts are with the 16-year-old’s family and friends as they come to terms with this “awful news.”

“Understandably the family are now desperate for answers and my officers are focused on understanding how this girl came to be on the tracks.”

Police are looking for anybody who might have information about the incident to contact them.

A post mortem will take place tomorrow.
