Over 100,000 workers in Ireland urged to claim tax refunds as deadline approaches

Have you applied for any tax refund in the last four years?

If you haven’t, then you could have a few extra quid in your pocket for Christmas, as Revenue are urging PAYE workers to submit claims before the December 31 deadline passes.

In October, Revenue wrote to more than 137,000 workers who have not applied for any tax refund in the last four years.

With a little over three weeks to go until the deadline, Revenue are reminding workers who haven’t submitted claims for tax refunds on items such as health expenses, nursing home fees, tuition fees or flat-rate expenses to ensure to claim all of their entitlements.

Even if you didn’t get a letter from Revenue they are urging workers to check their records to make sure they have claimed what they’re due; most online refund claims are paid within five working days.

You can find more information on how to submit claims here; there is a four-year limit on claiming tax refunds so any claims made from 2012 will become invalid by December 31.
