X-Factor ‘Beer Fear’ Star Hires Lawyer To Stop Cover Artist Cowboys

X-Factor Beer Fear star Lucy Spraggan has reportedly hired lawyers to stop cover versions of her songs being sold.

Several unauthorised versions of the X-Factor star’s original tracks have appeared on iTunes, and are slowly climbing up the download chart this week.

Lucy had watched her own songs chart high on the music-buying site before X-Factor removed them earlier this month due to the show’s strict rules. Now Spraggan has to watch her self-penned songs being covered by different artists and climbing the website’s charts.

Tea And Toast, the song Lucy performed at Boot Camp, has risen to as high as number 36 by a collective called Big Hits 2012.

Their version of Last Night (Beer Fear) is currently perched at 62 and each of their tracks is selling for 79p sterling.

Speaking about the cover versions, Spraggan told The Irish Sun; “It’s disappointing to see other people making money off the back of my music.

“I just want to assure people I don’t endorse these recordings in any way, and thank fans for their continued support.”

Maroon 5’s hit Payphone suffered a similar fate a few months ago as a group named Precision Tunes managed to score a top ten hit with their cover of the hit tune.
