VIDEO: The World Sends Us Garbage… We Send Back Music

This is simply amazing.

Rebecca McKnight

The Recycled Orchestra, an entire orchestra made from trash, is the brainchild of orchestra director Luis Szarán and music teacher Favio Chávez.

In the slums of Cateura, Paraguay, a city built on top of a landfill, many residents work scavenging through the city’s landfill in search of any goods which can still be sold on.

The video above, described as a beautiful story about the transformative power of music, which also highlights two vital issues of our times: poverty and waste pollution, shows how recycler used his to make cellos and violins from just scraps.
