Towards the end of last year, Beyoncé released the bombshell that was her fifth studio album with absolutely no advance warnings or big ceremony. This was a new project, get the music out there, connect more with her fans, cut out the middle man.
It turns out that her fifth album, simply entitled Beyoncé could possibly be her best album yet and certainly her most honest one. However, the first track from the album called Pretty Hurts and written by Sia was really a tour de force.
Smashing the myths on beauty and what it means to be “pretty”, the video depicts a beauty queen who is entering competitions and all of the trials and tribulations that go along with that position.
The video was exclusively released on TIME magazine as Beyoncé graces the cover of the magazine featuring the 100 Most Influential People. She is also asking everyone to join the conversation on what pretty actually is with the set-up of over on WhatIsPretty.com.
