The show must go on…

Despite Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong’s recent health scare, the rock band have said they are still planning to put on the show of a lifetime at the  MTV Video Music Awards.

The band were forced to cancel an Italian concert this week after the 40-year-old lead singer “was rushed to hospital” due to illness.

In true rock-star style, the band said they will be in LA this morning for the MTV VMA rehearsal show. The spokesman said they will be on stage for the event tomorrow, September 6th.

Billie Joe Armstrong was rushed to hospital at the weekend.

In a video on the band’s website Greenday.com, bass player Mike Dirnt said doctors didn’t think it was a good idea for Billie Joe to play the Italian concert on September 2nd. He didn’t give details about the illness.

According to their website, after the VMAs, the band’s next scheduled tour date is on September 21 at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.

They are releasing the first of their three planned studio album releases on September 21st.
