It is hard to believe but it was a year ago today that talented yet troubled singer Amy Winehouse passed away.
While the 27 year old had so much left to do in her life and career she also accomplished a lot. In memory of her achievements we take a look at what we reckon are her five best and career-defining songs.
1. ‘In my Bed’ – From her first album ‘Frank,’ this single was one of the first signs that Amy was going to be a huge star. And she certainly didn’t disappoint.
2. ‘Rehab’ – This song marked Amy’s comeback in 2006 and was one of her biggest hits. With a catchy melody and all too honest lyrics it’s no wonder it flew into the top ten.
3. ‘Back to Black’ – Another defining track with an equally striking music video, ‘Back to Black’ really demonstrated her writing and singing abilities.
4. ‘Valerie’ – Originally made famous by the Zutons this song was a massive hit second time around when Amy and Mark Ronson did a cover of it. It showed how the singer could put her own twist on a song.
5. ‘Our Day Will Come’ – This soothing, bittersweet song was one of the standout tracks on the singer’s posthumous album called ‘Lioness: Hidden Treasures.’
