Dublin duo Darling were forced to cancel their May headline date in the capital’s infamous musical haunt, Whelan’s, due to a spot of appendix trouble. Thankfully friends, Gary Harding and James McGuire are back on top form and to celebrate the release of their brand new single, ‘2001’, the lads will kindly make the track available as a free download for 24-hours.
Darling, the effeminate name chosen by lads is not representative of their musical sound or genre – reminiscent to Muse, The Stereophonics, and ’Echoes’ of The Killers, these lads have been an office favourite since featuring at the beginning of the year as Her.ie ‘Irish Artist of the Week’.
Legendary English producer, Stephen Lipson, worked with Darling on their latest musical offering ‘2001’ and the track has already received airplay nationwide.
On Tuesday July 1st at 20.01 hours the single will be available as a free download. Visit darling2001.viinyl.com to ensure you bag yourself a copy.

The lads play Belfast’s Mc Hugh’s Bar on Wednesday, however it is their rescheduled Whelan’s date on Saturday July 5th that we’ll be attending.
Special guests include The Dead Heavys and Color//Sound, tickets cost €11 and can be purchased from ticketmaster.ie.
For more info on the lads check out Darlingmusic.ie, or follow all updates on band’s official Facebook page, Twitter and Tumblr.
Stay tuned to hear the lads perform a very special set for the ladies and gents of Her and JOE.ie later this summer.
