Rihanna’s good deed went drastically wrong when she arrived over four and a half hours late for a school charity gig in Chicago. The singer was due to make an appearance to thank the students for raising money for damages caused by a tornado.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the Good Girl Gone Bad singer was supposed to turn up at 1pm but didn’t show her face until well after 5pm, and when she did, she stayed for a total of 12 minutes.
The singer tweeted from her own twitter account on her way to the event stating: “The Chicago traffic is not working.”
Barrington High School had won a competition for a video they had made about their charity work and used Rihanna’s song “Diamonds” as the soundtrack. However, the pupils were not impressed with the popstar. One student complained: “It’s one thing to be fashionably late. This is just rude. Our lives don’t revolve around a pop star. Our school worked hard to win this. She should be more respectful.”
When the singer did eventually arrive, she made no apologies and didn’t inform the students what had caused her delay. She tweeted after leaving the venue: “#BHS thank you man!!! You guys RULE!!! I love this school!!!”
We’re not sure if the students still love you though, Rihanna…
