On Overload: The Sugababes Have Reunited. Yes, Really.

The Sugababes have reformed with their original line-up. Will you be buying their new album?

Ladies, you might be on overload (hah! See what we did there?) when you read the following information. You might want to bust out your dancing heels and start downloading some their classic songs, because the Sugababes are back!

Yes, it’s true. Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and our very own Siobhan Donaghy have officially stated that the band has been resurrected and that they’re planning on releasing a new album later this year.

Okay, okay. Now, we’ll admit we’re a little bit sceptical about this reunion. This is the group that has been plagued by rumours of bitchiness and in-fighting from the very beginning, but that being said, we still have ‘Overload’ on our iPods…

The Sugababes started to fall apart back in 2001 when Siobhan left the group over alleged reports of bullying by the other band members. Mutya left in 2005, again, with reports of backstage catfights and moodiness surrounding the band.

But the good news is that the girls seem to have put all that behind them and are back in the studio. In fact, according to reports, they’ve been working with some big names in the music business, including Emeli Sandé and Professor Green.

The girls have already trademarked their names ahead fo their reunion.

“It was the first time we’d sang together since we were 16 years old. To be honest with you, it wasn’t an instant thing. When we were younger we gelled straight away, but we had to learn to blend with each other again,” said Keisha.

“It was so special to be excited about hearing our voices together, and being excited about our music. On my days off I’d go home and I’d list to the tracks. I’d be like, ‘I’m really enjoying this.’ I just enjoyed our music,” she added.

Unsurprisingly the girls have decided not to keep the name ‘Sugababes’ for their new musical venture (although given all the bad press associated with that name, we can’t say we blame them).  So instead of being known as the ‘Sugababes’ the girls will simply be called: ‘Mutya, Keisha, Siobhan.’

Nice.
