He is probably the hottest thing in Hollywood at the moment but it turns out we could have been watching Ryan Gosling on the stage rather than on the screen if he had gotten his way.
Apparently, and we’re not sure how much weight we’re attributing to this story, Backstreet Boy star AJ McLean has revealed that the Gangster Squad actor auditioned to be in the band.

AJ claims Ryan, whom he used to live beside (what we would have given to swap places with him), soon lost interest because he thought they would never make it big. But it didn’t stop there, his story gets even better.
The Notebook star allegedly called up the group after they had a few chart hits to see if he could be their sixth member but the boys never got back to him. Bet they’re kicking themselves!
The Backstreet Boys could have had a very attractive sixth member apparently.
AJ expressed his remorse to TMZ, saying: “Ryan, I am so sorry that I didn’t call you back… If we ever want a sixth Backstreet Boy member, I’m gonna call you. You can sing.
“He can sing his ass off. He’s not only a great actor and a handsome man,” the singer added. While we’ve always been fans of the boy band, we’re pretty sure Ryan hasn’t been waiting beside the phone.
In fact, we know he’s been too busy making hit movies and becoming one of the most sought-after men on the planet.
