Cork is reportedly going to get a 6,000-seat music venue and events centre in a new development that hopes to rival the 3Arena in Dublin and Belfast’s Odyssey Arena.
According to reports, a last-minute deal secured on Monday was approved and Cork City Council are hoping to begin construction early next year.
State investment in the project was reportedly boosted in order to help to secure the deal on Monday, with investment increasing from €16 million to €20 million.
The new project is expected to create approximately 400 jobs over the next five years and is planned to be located at the old Beamish & Crawford brewery site in Cork city centre.
The venue will be a massive addition to Cork’s already thriving music scene.
