It will be the first time he has played an Irish gig since 2011.

Morrissey has confirmed his first Irish show since 2011 and will be performing at newly christened 3Arena on Monday 1st December.

He is set to be joined by special guest Anna Calvi for the date.

The 55-year-old singer, who released his highly acclaimed autobiography in October 2013, rose to prominence in the 1980s as frontman for The Smiths.

Since the band’s split in 1987, Morrissey has pursued a solo career.

His album World Peace Is None Of Your Business was released in July and marked his first solo release since 2009’s Years of Refusal. The album charted top 5 in Ireland, at number 2 in the UK, and is Morrissey’s 12th top ten UK album.

British singer-songwriter Anna Calvi was nominated for the BCC Sound of 2011, Mercury Music Prize and a BRIT award upon the release of her self titled debut album.  She released the critically acclaimed follow up, One Breath, in late 2013.

Tickets from €59.50 inclusive of booking fee are on sale at 9am on Friday 12th September from Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.ie
