Amid reports that his new album has flopped in Ireland, Ronan Keating claims it’s doing well in the UK.

Yesterday it was reported that the singer’s new record ‘Fires’ had only sold 181 copies here suggesting that his career had gone up in smoke.

But the 35 year old has defended himself and his music by saying that he is successful across the water: ‘The album is No4 in the midweek charts in the UK and we’re only a couple of copies behind Rita Ora and we’re hoping to catch her today.’

Ronan is hoping to go on tour if the album proves to be a success.

The ‘When You Say Nothing At All’ star, who perhaps should have followed that advice, also revealed that as proud as he is to release the album in his home country the figures are never all that good.

‘Come on, album sales in Ireland are never going to keep you in Gucci,’ said Ronan during the interview with FM104’s Strawberry Alarm Clock.

He continued: ‘You do it to make a presence. This is my home country and I’m very proud to release my record here and for it to do well and for it to be played on the radio.’

And it didn’t stop there, the Boyzone frontman also explained: ‘They didn’t include my download sales either and the downloads were quite substantially more than that but I’m not going to get into a battle about it.’

No offence Ronan but it sounds like you already have!
