Katy Perry must be a big TLC fan as the singer has reportedly spent $5,000 to make sure that the band release a new album.
Remaining members T-Boz and Chilli recently started a Kickstarter campaign in the hopes of raising $150,000 to fund the band’s final album, saying that they had chosen the campaign funding route in order to retain full control over the release.
TLC’s third member Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopez died in a car accident in 2002 and the duo vowed to keep the spirit of their earlier work alive on the new album.
“Our final album will stay true to the TLC sound, always confronting the real issues and life experiences that we all must face every single day, everywhere. We write music that people relate to…timeless music. No matter the trends, we feel like our music is always relevant.”
The campaign has been hugely successful so far, raising over $100,000 and it is being reported that the Firework singer made a personal contribution of $5,000 towards the cause.
The band has 28 days to raise the remaining $43,000 and you can see the Kickstarter campaign here.
