“It’s Now Time for Us to Move On”: Irish Band Announce Split After 15 Years on the Go

Cork band Fred have decided to part ways. The much-loved Irish band had been together for 15 years and released four albums.

In statement released this week, the band announced their split saying:

“We have enjoyed our time making music together immensely but simply it’s now time for us to move on.”

Over the years, the band have built a reputation for being one of the most hardworking, independent bands from Ireland and have played gigs across the globe.

“We would like to thank all our fans, friends, families who have supported us over the years” they continued.

“We also offer a big thank you to all of the artists who we have had the pleasure of sharing stages with and the all of the venues who continue to promote live music.”

The band will be playing a number of gigs around the country in December before they say “goodbye” for good. Here are the details:

Thursday, December 5th – Whelans – Dublin.
Friday, Decemeber 13th – De Barras – Clonakilty.
Sunday, December 15th – Róisín Dubh – Galway.

Their final show will be in The Pavilion, Cork on Saturday, December 28th.

“There is a distinct possibility that we will have every member of the band past and present on stage together, at the same time, simultaneously” they wrote.

“We will also be joined by some friends whom we have played with many times over the years.”
