Folksy musicians Mumford & Sons have managed to make some musical history today by becoming the first band since The Beatles to have six hits in the Billboard Hot 100 music chart. Yes, really.

The band’s insanely catchy new album Babel debuted at the top of the Billboard album charts last Wednesday, making it the biggest-selling album of the year so far (it’s even managed to overtake Justin Bieber’s Believe) and now? Well now the band is kicking some serious behind on the Billboard singles countdown.

At present Mumford & Sons have a whopping six tunes on the chart: I Will Wait, Babel, Lover’s Eyes, Whispers in the Dark, Holland Road and Ghosts That We Knew. This means that the band have managed to match a feat that was originally set by the Beatles almost 50 years ago. Not bad, right?

Mumford & Sons have matched a record set by legendary band The Beatles.

The band released all 12 of the tracks from their new album online, so basically the public are to thank for this new world record. Fans of the band went mental for their new material and faster than you could say “little lion man” Mumford were taking over the chart.

We have to say, here in the Her.ie office there’s nothing we love more than a bit of Mumford & Sons. Are you one of the lucky people heading to see them at the O2 in Dublin this December?
