Call Me Maybe stormed to the top of the charts and made Carly Rae Jepsen a huge star but now it seems the song has gotten her into a bit of trouble. In fact, she is being sued for it!
Ukranian singer Aza is reportedly bringing a case against the pop star and is claiming that she copied her tune, entitled Hunky Santa. And yes, that really is the name of it.
This is Carly Rae Jepsen’s hit song which dominated the charts this year.
Apparently she believes that music producers altered her song before adding Jepsen’s vocals. She also said that they took some of her lyrics.
“I’m shocked and surprised that these people wanted to sample my lyrics on their song. They didn’t ask my permission – they just took it.
“That’s why I filed this lawsuit. When I first heard it on the radio, I was driving and almost got into an accident. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing,” she explained to TMZ.

A representative for Jepsen has already denied the allegations: “This is completely false and lawyers will deal with this. Everyone knows Carly is a songwriter. She is not spending a lot of time listening to Ukranian radio.”
