Carly Rae Jepsen Lifts the Lid on Her Debut Album

Carly Rae Jepsen has finally revealed the details of her upcoming debut album Kiss. Are you, like us, hoping for another 'Call Me Maybe'?

If you’re anything like us, chances are you’re still humming along to the annoyingly-catchy-but-still-pretty-awesome ‘Call Me Maybe’ by Carly Rae Jepsen. If so, we have some good news for you. The singer has just announced that her album will be released next month.

Now, why is this good news? Well it means that we’ll finally have something else to listen to aside from just humming ‘Call Me Maybe’ non-stop. We’re sure that everyone in the vicinity of the Her.ie offices (read: the poor Joe.ie boys) will be overjoyed about this.

The Irish Independent reports that the 26-year-old singer/songwriter has said that her debut album, Kiss, will be released on September 18.

“These are lyric and song ideas that I have been collecting over the years. I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to be able to collaborate with some of my dream producers. It has been the most fulfilling experience,” said Carly.

So what will the album sound like? Well, if you were expecting an album of songs similar to ‘Call Me Maybe’ you may be disappointed.

“It’s inspired by Robyn, The Cars, Madonna, and believe it or not, James Taylor. I can’t wait to share it with everyone! Kiss,” she added.

With such a broad range of influences, we have a feeling that little Carly (we seriously can’t believe she’s 26!) will surprise a lot of people with this one.

Carly and Justin have recorded a duet together.

And Carly doesn’t just have an album up her sleeves for the coming weeks, she also recently confirmed that she was planning on touring with Justin Bieber and that the Biebs features on the album, although she has been “sworn to secrecy” about the track in question.

“The Justin song, I’m kind of sworn to secrecy on because I think we want to release it together at one moment. But the rest of the album, I’m really excited for!” said Carly.

Well, you have to admit, her enthusiasm is pretty contagious. We’re looking forward to seeing what the Canadian singer has come up with for Kiss – is it wrong that we’re secretly hoping for another ‘Call Me Maybe’?
