Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City to Pay $800,000 in Plagiarism Case

The duo have been ordered to pay out $800k in damages.

Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen have been ordered to pay $800,000 after a lawsuit was filed against their song, for being remarkably similar to one that was released in 2010.

Singer Ally Burnett claimed that the duo’s “Good Time”, sounded very similar to her own “Ah, it’s a Love Song”. Burnett’s song was recorded in 2010, two years before Good Time became a global hit.

According to TMZ, the judge ordered BMI, the company that collects the royalties for the pop hit, to pay Ally, $804,156 in damages.
