Beyoncé Under Fire For Covering Amy Winehouse track

Not everyone is excited about Beyoncé covering the iconic track...

Rumours started to filter out of the Beyoncé camp last week that the singer had covered the iconic Back to Black track by Amy Winehouse for Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby. Initially, there was interest into the entire affair but now it seems not everyone is particularly delighted about the Diva singer covering the late great Winehouse.

The track played over the latest trailer that has been released for the film and appears to be a stripped back version of the Winehouse track. Andre 3000, who has worked with Beyoncé before, features a rap verse on the track.

However, according to Entertainmentwise, there have been rumblings on twitter that fans of Winehouse are not happy. @scatts007 remarked: “Beyonce should never have covered Amy Winehouse Back to Black! My opinion!!” ‏ and @ameeraconrad commented: “Beyonce covering Back to Black for the new Gatsby movie?! Why couldn’t they just use the irreplaceable Amy Winehouse?”

Although Beyoncé’s voice is undoubtedly amazing, there are those who think that the original Winehouse track should have been used for the film and trailer.

Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse, has also weighed in on the whole debate and asked for Beyoncé to donate to the Amy Winehouse foundation and also claimed he had no idea she was covering the song.

Have a listen to the snippet of the track from the trailer…
