She might not have had the best start to the year, what with her divorce, but Katy Perry will end 2012 on a high as she is revealed as Billboard magazine’s Woman of the Year.
The singer, who split from hubby Russell Brand at the end of last year, picked up the award in New York today.

The singer was named as 2012’s Woman of the Year.
Katy, who has had a number of hits this year as well as her film (which we won’t talk about), spoke about the award during her recent interview with the publication.
She said: “I’d thought my year was over, that it was time to pass the baton. But I guess I get to hold onto it until the end of the year. It’s truly a lovely compliment.”
Previous winners of the title include Beyoncé and Taylor Swift but the Part of Me star wasn’t the only lady to pick up an award today.

Call Me Maybe singer Carly Rae Jepsen was also celebrated today.
Carly Rae Jepsen, who brought us that rather-annoying-but-totally-addictive song Call Me Maybe, was named as this year’s Rising Star and was said to be over the moon about it.
Who knows, she might end up writing a song about it? Let’s hope not though!
