One half of girl duo t.A.T.u has admitted she would condemn her son if he came out as gay during a Russian TV interview.
Yulia Volkova, who had a number one hit with video All The Things She Said where she takes part in a lesbian kiss, has unleashed controversial homophobic views questioning a homosexual man as a “real man”.
According to translations surfacing online following a recent Russian TV interview, the former t.A.T.u singer was asked her opinion on if her son were to come out:
“Yes, I would condemn him, because I believe that a real man must be a real man.
“God created man for procreation, it is the nature. The man for me is the support, the strength of… I won’t accept a gay son.”

The singer later back-tracks on using her previous fake lesbian relationship, saying she believes there is a double standard in accepting homosexuality as lesbians are more acceptable as women are better looking:
“And a man has no right to be a f*g. Two girls together – not the same thing as the two men together. It seems to me that lesbians look aesthetically much nicer than two men holding their hands or kissing.”
Adding further insult to injury, the singer later attempted to redeem her opinion against an online backlash, saying:
“I have many gay friends. I believe that being gay is all still better than murderers, thieves or drug addicts. If you choose out of all this, being gay is a little better than the rest.”
In recent months, public attention and worldwide media have criticised Russia for a lack in promoting LGBT rights.
