“You Stay Classy Anchorman 2” – Sequel to Be Musical

Well, it's not going to be a full-blown musical but the director has revealed that there will be musical numbers in the hotly-anticipated sequel...

So we knew that Anchorman 2 was in development but we had no idea that it was going to have songs in it and while we are a little sceptical, we can’t think of another film which is more likely to get away with it!

According to reports director Adam McKay has revealed that the follow-up to the 2004 comedy hit will have a musical influence: “There will be some music in Anchorman 2 for sure, we have some songs already written.”

The boys will have to turn their yelling into singing for the sequel.

In fact, it was once going to be a straight musical as he explained: “We were going to do Anchorman 2 as a Broadway musical first, for like six months and then go shoot the movie.” But this is no longer happening.

Instead Will Ferrell and co might end up belting out at least one number during the feature length film which is currently being written and is said to be based on the rise of new media.

Will Ferrell did have to do a musical number for Step Brothers.

McKay has shot a number of musical sequences for comedies before including Step Brothers which also starred Will Ferrell although he admitted that the one in Anchorman 2 will be different.

“This one might have a little more movement in it, and the only problem with that is the actors get winded,” he said.

Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Keochner and Christina Applegate are all believed to be returning for the sequel. Guess they all better start working on those “How now brown cow” exercises!
