Recently, we featured a way to hide Apple’s default apps but now, it appears the tech company is going one better and introducing a way to remove them.
App Advice alerted us to the revolutionary idea after they spotted code hidden in iTunes metadata.
It seems that Apple has added “isFirstParty” and “isFirstPartyHideableApp” and this suggests that we’ll be able to get rid of these apps very soon.
Speaking to Buzzfeed last year, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the company wanted to grant iPhone users requests to removed the unwanted unused apps (Stocks, iBooks, etc).
However, there is a drawback which is that some of the apps are necessary for the phone to function correctly.
“There are some apps that are linked to something else on the iPhone. If they were to be removed they might cause issues elsewhere on the phone. There are other apps that aren’t like that”.
Confusing much? We’ll live in hope.
