Popular YouTube prankster and social commenter, Joey Salads, has made a video, which highlights the worrying disparity between harassment of men and women.
In the video, Joey and a female co-star film two opposite scenes. Firstly, the girl named Lexi harasses Joey. She demands he have sex with her later and repeatedly grabs his ass. Joey audibly refuses and asks her to stop touching him, stop harassing him and says that he’s not interested. In some scenes, he’s even heard saying, “she’s taking advantage of me”.
Passers mock Joey and ask if he’s crazy, insisting he should want to have sex. It’s pretty damning.
When roles are reversed and Joey is seen to grab and talk explicitly to Lexi, strangers intervene and separate the pair within seconds.
While we’re impressed with the quick reaction of the public to protect Lexi, we’re disappointed that the same assertiveness was not extended to Joey.
