You would think that Kimberley Fugate would have been used to surprises having been told that about her unplanned pregnancy, that she was having triplets and giving birth three months early. But not even she could have predicted what happened in the delivery room.
On the 8th of February the 42-year-old, from Mississippi, ended up giving birth to identical quadruplets via caesarean section despite being told that she was having triplets.
She told ABC that the doctor was as surprised as she was when he made the discovery mid-operation: “They had gotten the three out and they said, ‘More feet.’ I said, ‘No!’”
The fourth baby, which is the fifth child for Kimberley and her husband Craig who also have a 10-year-old daughter, was apparently never picked up during any of the ultrasound scans.
Kenleigh, Kristen, Kayleigh and Kelsey are all doing well but will remain in hospital until they are strong enough to go home.
