If you make it your business to wish all your Facebook friends a happy birthday, then this new feature is about to save you a lot of time.
However, if you wait all year for the day when you can trawl through all the personalised birthday messages and feel loved, you’re probably going to hate this feature.
Friend shared a text from @Facebook where to say “Happy Birthday!” You just reply “1” – which is nuts. pic.twitter.com/8FrIBufsrY

Facebook’s SMS notification now allows you to wish your Facebook friend a happy birthday simply by replying with the number ‘1’.
This is all thanks to Facebook’s SMS functionality which enables users to receive text notifications of activity straight to their phone.
The insta-reply feature means that when you respond with a ‘1’, the birthday boy or girl gets a generic “Happy Birthday!” on their timeline.
Mass-produced birthday messages? We’re not happy about this.
