Who Runs The World? Companies With Women in Charge Outperform All-Male Businesses

A new study has confirmed something that we've already known for a long time - when it comes to business, women are just as good at playing the game as men...

Here at Her.ie we firmly believe that anything a man can do, we can do better – especially when it comes to business. Thankfully, we now have research to back up this statement and to prove that it is, in fact, true.

Jezebel reports today that a new study has found that companies that include women on their board of directors actually outperform companies who have boards made up entirely of men. The research also shows that companies which are happy to have women in such a prominent position are more sustainable too (in the words of Beyoncé – who run the world?!)

Researchers from Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, at the University of California, reviewed 1,500 companies – only three of which had at least three female board members.

When it comes to business, women are continually excelling in their chosen fields

Unsurprisingly, the researchers discovered that over a longer period of time, the companies that had some women in charge actually fared better and even outperformed their all-male counterparts. Oh, and they did less damage to the environment too. Score.

“Women and sustainability are two sides of the same coin… Corporations build better societies if they have balanced boards,” said Halla Tomadottir, the executive chair and co-founder of Audur Capital in Iceland, who was interviewed as part of the study.

We couldn’t agree more. So there you have it women – keep striving for the top.
