Where Are They Now? – Party of Five

It's almost twenty years since it first hit our screens, and thirteen since it ended, but where are the stars of Party of Five now?

Sue Murphy

Ah Sunday evening. Your homework definitely wasn’t done but you were happily sitting in front of the TV watching the dilemmas of a family struggling without their parents. How will Charlie hold everyone together? What the hell was Claudia up to now? Will the kid ever grow up? Some of the cast went on to be more successful than others, like Matthew Fox, but recently all has been quiet with the Party of Five gang. We take a look at what the main stars have been up to since the show…

1. Matthew Fox – Charlie Salinger

Fox played Charlie Salinger in the show, the older brother and generally the guy who was keeping it all together for the rest of the family. Following the end of the show in 2000, Matthew went on to star in another series Haunted and was made a household name by his turn as Jack Shephard in Lost. Following the end of the series, Fox claimed he was done with television and has appeared in films Alex Cross and Emperor since. Unfortunately, he has been off the market since, wait for it, 1992, when he married his wife Margherita, with whom he has two children. Fox has had a couple of brushes with the law too, once for apparently assaulting a female bus driver and again for drunk driving. Maybe you could take a couple of lessons from sweet Charlie?

2. Scott Wolf – Bailey Salinger

Ok, let’s admit it. We all had a poster of Scott Wolf on our walls at home that we pulled out of the middle of Smash Hits… Oh Bailey… Wolf is actually one of those actors that has always been around but you didn’t really know he was around. After Party of Five, Wolf went on to star in other series including Spin City, Everwood, The Nine and V. More recently, he has been working on Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters, an animated series based on the card game. Hmm…  Scott is married since 2002 to Kelley Marie Limp with whom he has two children. We always assumed Wolf was destined for bigger things, it’s hard to believe Fox was the bigger male personality from the series.

3. Neve Campbell – Julia Salinger

Scream queen Neve was probably the biggest success story from Party of Five following her appearances in the Scream franchise as Sidney. The 1996 film changed the future of horror films with Wes Craven completely rewriting all the rules. Campbell also had appearance in Three to Tango, Wild Things, teen cult classic The Craft and an impressive turn in Titanic: Blood and Steel. Neve has gone through two divorces since starring in Party of Five, her first marriage to Jeff Colt ended in 1998 and her second to John Light in 2011. Last year, the star and her partner J. J. Feild welcomed a son Caspian.

4. Lacey Chabert – Claudia Salinger

A firm favourite in the Her.ie office, Lacey Chabert is so fetch! If Neve was the most recognisable of the gang following the end of the series, Lacey has had the most varied career of the bunch. The 30 year old star (yes, she is 30!) is perhaps best known for her performance as Gretchen Wieners in Mean Girls. Chabert pulls in a substantial amount of her income from voice over work, she has lent her voice to Transformers, The Wild Thornberrys and surprisingly, Meg Griffin in the first series of Family Guy! Lacey lives with her family in South California and apparently is an accomplished violinist. More importantly, Mean Girls musical?

5. Jeremy London- Griffin Holbrook

Following Party of Five, London went on to star in family favourite 7th Heaven, another sickly sweet drama series. However, London’s personal life is far more interesting than any of the series he has starred in. In 2010, the actor was reported kidnapped and told police that he was forced to smoke drugs at gunpoint. While fixing a flat tyre outside a hotel in Palm Springs, London was approached by two men who made the star drive around to purchase alcohol and drugs. An arrest was later made, but London’s family declared they thought the actor was lying. London denied this. Interestingly, the star later made an appearance on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, as did his father and his wife, Melissa Cunningham. London still currently works in the film industry in lower budget productions.

6. Jennifer Love Hewitt- Sarah Reeves

When Party of Five wrapped, Love Hewitt went on to star in the exceptionally brilliant Heartbreakers with Sigourney Weaver. However, after a few less successful film, Hewitt returned to TV with the popular series the Ghost Whisperer. Her latest series is The Client List about a single mother in Texas who leads a double life. Hewitt has had a number of relationships with her co-stars, she was previously engaged to Ross McCall her co-star on Ghost Whisperer and subsequently dated Jamie Kennedy and Brian Hallisay. In 2002, a woman was arrested for stalking the star and issuing death threats, she has since been released on bail but is banned from any contact with the actress.
