What Your Sleep Style Says About Your Relationship

You may be surprised at which positions signal trouble...

Whether you and your partner love to spoon, sleep in a tangled knot, or on opposite sides of the bed – your snuggle style apparently reveals a lot about your relationship.

Experts say that our body language when we are sleeping is the key to our subconcious mind.

This means that our innermost thoughts and feelings are reflected by the sleep positions we choose – including how we feel about our partners.

Nearly one third of couples apparently sleep facing the same direction in the spoon position, which according to experts, is a sign of a happy relationship.

Sexpert Tracey Cox told Mail Online: “Few couples hug or spoon during sleep if they’re sexually frustrated or resentful.

“The partner who’s not eager for sex is worried any sign of affection will be interpreted as an invitation, the other gets the message any touch is unwelcome so stops trying.”

While lovers who sleep tangled up are the rarest (4 per cent), the practice is not a good sign.

Tracey refers to this position as: “The pose of new lovers smack in the middle of the I-can’t-believe-I’ve-found-you bit.

“If you’re still doing it years in, however, there’s a hint of Tweedledum-Tweedledee co-dependency”.

A quarter of couples like to sleep separately, facing away from each other – which surprisingly indicates a happy, balanced relationship.

Tracey said: “This is a good compromise and a sign you’re in good shape.

“When awake, you’re likely to be affectionate and not afraid of intimacy but not overly needy either.”
