WATCH: The Simple Trick That Makes Your Kitchen Roll A LOT More Effective

That's probably the most grown up thing we've ever said.

Call the fun police, this may be the most practical hack we’ve ever offered on site.

However, if it’s good enough for a TED talk, it’s good enough for us.

We are all guilty of ripping off reems of kitchen roll to wipe just a few crumbs off the counter, but as handy as it is, it’s making a pretty bad impression on our carbon footprint.

However, scientist Joe Smith revealed in his recent TEDx talk, that there is a very simple way to make your roll last a lot longer and do a better job of mopping up.

He encourages us to just rip one sheet off, and instead of placing it directly on the mess, fold it in half as this massively increases the amount of moisture the sheet can hold.

This is due to “interstitial suspension”, which means the space you create between the two layers allow the droplets of moisture to cling to the towel as well as each other in between the fold.

Okay, not life-changing, but helpful to know!
