Four-year-old Gavin is completely blind. He uses his cane to allow him to walk independently and here he’s videoed using it to step off a kerb for the very first time.
“I can do it!”, he says as he edges his way off he step using the cane for direction.
Gavin has been using his cane independently for a few months now. He suffers from LCA, an extremely rare condition that has caused complete blindness.
A cure is currently being worked on for the LCA-NMNAT1 gene mutation that has caused his rare blindness. There are only 150 people living in the United Stated with the specific condition.
