TripAdvisor is a very handy tool and everyone has no doubt made good use of it, finding hidden gems with great reviews, or avoiding that one restaurant like the plague.
We’ve often wondered, though, how would a business handle an exaggerated bad review?
Well Bennett’s Cafe and Bistro in York, England had an absolutely stunning response to a Hannah C. who visited their premises for afternoon tea. According to The Independent, Hannah said she was on a budget so only ordered a hot water and lemon which cost two pounds.
This did not please her in the slightest and she left a scathing review on the cafe’s TripAdvisor page.
“Dreadful place, would definitely not recommend, and the rude waiter that served me should be sacked. I will not be returning and will be advising friends and family not to go there.”
However Bennett’s bit back in a big way and gave Hannah a lesson in catering overheads, going on to explain the amount of work that actually goes into processing an order as simple as hers. He went into an EXTREMELY DETAILED play by play of what the financial realities for a restaurant are.

Well, that’s Hannah told.
