Save money and do some good for the world around you by using simple measures to conserve energy in the home. If you’re not sure where to start – don’t worry! We’ll be bringing you one great energy-saving tip every day for the next month.
8. Keep your freezer full
With the cold weather really starting to kick in, it can be a bit of a pain to have to run to the supermarket every day to buy something for the family’s dinner. Keep yourself warm and ensure that you always have something to eat for your din-dins by doing a big shop and stocking up your freezer.
Did you know that a full freezer actually uses less energy than a totally empty one? Therefore it’s worth your while to freeze bread, meat and any other foods that you eat on a regular basis.
However, if you’re a little short on cash and can’t afford to stock your freezer up, why not fill it with some litre bottles of water? This way you’ll be saving cash and keeping your energy costs down too.
During this time of year, water pipes can also freeze and burst leaving people without water for long periods of time. The plus side of this is that you’ll also have some emergency water on hand to if the cold weather causes any problems to your pipes.
