Save money and do some good for the world around you by using simple measures to conserve energy in the home. If you’re not sure where to start – don’t worry! We’ll be bringing you one great energy-saving tip every day for the next month.

3. Help heat your home by covering bare floors.

During winter, heating our homes can be one of the biggest drains on our personal finances. If your oil, gas or fuel bill is getting a little to high an easy way to save energy would be to do a small bit of home rennovation. No, we’re not talking about tearing down any walls or ripping up the carpet, don’t worry.

All we’re suggesting is that you take a quick walk around your home and take note of any rooms/spaces where the bare floor is exposed. Exposed floors look super-stylish, but did you know that they can make it extra harder for you to heat your home?

Carpeting rooms or adding some rugs to exposed floors helps to add comfort and to retain any heat within your home. This is essential if there is little or no floor insulation within your home.

Not only will doing this keep your feet (and your home) toasty over the remaining weeks of winter, you’ll also find that you’ll be saving energy and spending less on your heating bills.
