13. Keep an eye on your fans

What’s the one thing you do before you start cooking or before you hop into the shower? If you’re anything like us, then chances are you switch on your oven fan or your bathroom fan to help keep your room properly ventilated.

While kitchen and bathroom fans are handy things (they keep the place steam/smoke/smell free) they also use up a mass amount of electricity. You only need to switch your kitchen fan on to hear the amount of power required to suck up all the steam from your cooking.

If you’re looking for a simple and effective way to lower your electricity costs and to help save the enviroment all in one fell swoop, then make sure you switch off your kitchen and bath fans immediately once you’re done cooking/showering.

How many times have you walked out of the kitchen or the bathroom and completely forgotten about the fan?

It’s so easy to do but the impact leaving a fan on can have on your electricity bill definitely isn’t a good one.

So keep your home environmentally-friendly by making sure you switch off as soon as you’re finished. You’ll see the difference when you get your next electricity bill!
