Save money and do some good for the world around you by using simple measures to conserve energy in the home. If you’re not sure where to start – don’t worry! We’ll be bringing you one great energy-saving tip every day for the next month.

10. Turn off your dishwasher

In this day and age, most modern homes have a dishwasher. Now, let’s be perfectly honest – dishwashers make life easier. After you’ve spent an hour or two cooking in the evening, the last thing you want to do is wash all the dishes.

If you really wanted to save energy and money, handwashing is the way to go. But we know that this isn’t always feasible – especially if you’re rushing out the door to work. However, here is something that you can do to ensure that you’re doing your bit for the environment and for your wallet.

The next time you’re using your dishwasher, turn it off directly after it has finished going through its ‘wash’ cycle. By doing this, you’ll eliminate the need for your dishwasher to use its fan, which will save electricity and cost you less.

The result is that you’ll do your bit for the enviroment and you’ll have lovely clean, dry dishes waiting for you by the time you get home.
