True Blood’s Stephen Moyer is to take on a top role in NBCs The Sound of Music.
The actor who plays Bill Compton in True Blood is no stranger to musicals having recently played charismatic Billy Flynn in the musical Chicago.
Moyer will take on the role of Captain von Trapp opposite Carrie Underwood who’s starring as Maria.
The production is reported to be three hours long and more based on the 1959 Broadway version of the musical rather than the film version that starred Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.
The NBC production will be broadcast live on US television later this year.
