You’d think that after spending months slogging it out in the gym for his role in The Dark Knight Rises, Tom Hardy would be looking forward to a bit of a break. But clearly, he’s a man who likes to keep himself busy.
The Daily Star Sunday reports that Tom, who completely transformed himself for his role as Bane in the new Batman film, is gearing up to put himself in real-life danger when he visits the Congo.
Yes, you read that right. Tom is planning on packing his bags and heading to the war-torn African country for a special ITV1 series.
Tom Hardy’s Congo Adventures will see the actor travelling around the country, which has a reputation for being one of the most dangerous places in the entire world.
Now, call us crazy, but we imagine that Tom will be more than able to look after himself – eh…did you see how much he bulked up for Batman? He’ll be fine.
“Tom will be going on an adventure for this show. It will be amazing to see a big Hollywood star going back to basics,” said an insider.
“He’ll be meeting the indigenous people and trying to uncover the truth about this forgotten country and its past,” the insider added.
According to reports, television bigwigs met last Wednesday and gave the green light for Tom to head off on his travels. The programme will be split into two hour-long shows that will air at some point during spring 2013.
How do you think Tom Hardy will fare in the Congo? Will you be tuning in to watch him?
